PST files are created in the Windows version of Microsoft Outlook. To open these files on a Mac, you need to download a commercial application that allows you to view and export PST files into your preferred format. PST Bridge and PST Exporter both provide options to accomplish this task. You can also use EmailChemy to import a PST file into a compatible file that works with Apple Mail, Entourage, Thunderbird and programs that support MBOX, EML and CSV files.
PST Bridge
1.Install PST Bridge available from the Apple iTunes Store (link in Resources).
4.Click 'File' and 'Unlock Modules.' Select 'PST Bridge Viewer' or 'PST Bridge Exporter' and click the 'Buy' button. Confirm your purchase by clicking 'Buy' again. Enter your Apple ID credentials, if necessary. The viewer allows you to view PST files, while the exporter allows you to export them to different formats.
5.Click the 'Open PST' button and select your PST file.
6.Click the 'Export Wizard' button and select 'E-Mail Messages,' 'Address Book Contacts' or 'Calendar Appointments' from the available options. Click 'Continue.'
7.Select the option to 'Show Files in Finder' to view your PST files in Finder. Alternatively, open Apple Mail, Outlook or another email application that accepts MBox files and follow your email client's instructions to import the file. Click 'Done.'
EmailChemy
1.Download and install EmailChemy from the manufacturer's website (link in Resources).
2.Launch 'EmailChemy.' Click the 'Help' menu and 'Register.' Enter the Name and Key you received when purchasing the product in the appropriate fields. Click 'Register.'
5.Select the option to convert Outlook for Windows files from the drop-down menu. Click 'Next.'
6.Click 'Browse' and select your PST file. Click 'Convert.'
7.Choose the format you want to convert the file to from the 'Format' drop-down menu. Click 'Save.'
8.Click 'Close' when the conversion completes and open your preferred email program to import the file.

Creating a Template
- Click the New Email button to create a new message.
- Type the information for the template (e.g., all the standard information).
- Click File and choose Save as. Specify the template File name and Save as file type Outlook Template (.oft). Be sure to save it in the default location for Microsoft Templates.
- Close the message and do not save it when prompted.
Using a Template You've Created
- Choose New Items | More Items | Choose Form.
- In the Look In: box, select User Templates in File System
- Select the form you wish to use and click Open
- You can now type the needed information and click Send.
Creating a Template
- Click the New Message button to create a new message.
- In the lower right corner in the New Message window, click on the 'My Templates' icon.
- Click on the + Template and type a Template Name and the body of the template (e.g., all the standard information).
- Click Save.
- Click on the Template you created and it will appear in the body of the new message.
There are a couple of options for creating a shortcut to your Outlook templates.
Add a new item to your Quick Steps
- In the Quick Steps section of the ribbon, choose the Create New option.
- Type a name for the quick step.
- Choose an Action by clicking the down arrow – choose New Message in the Respond section.
- Type the TO address if needed
- Click the Show Options button.
- Type the subject, text, etc for the message (you can copy text from an existing template here)
- Click Finish to save the quick step. It will now appear in the Quick Step section. Click the quick step item name to use the template.
Add a shortcut on the Outlook Ribbon
- Click File | Options.
- Select Customize Ribbon.
- Click the New Group icon then choose Rename to name it (e.g., Templates), type the name and click OK.
- Choose All commands in the 'Choose commands from' field.
- Select Choose Form and click Add.
- Click OK to save changes. This icon will open a Choose Forms window. Click the down arrow in the Look In field. Select User Templates in File System and select your template.
